Latest Updates from Our Project:

Less than $150 to go, shoutout to Glatisant, and flexible play styles
6 months ago – Mon, Sep 22, 2025 at 04:00:33 AM

Goal in sight!

At the time of writing this, StoryGuider is less than $150 away from it's goal with just over a week to go!  I'm excited to see it closing in, and I'm hoping it hits the mark in the next couple days so we can look at maybe unlocking that first stretch goal still!

Shoutout to Glatisant

I'm teaming up with the folks from Grafbound Press to shoutout each other's projects!  I've played and reviewed works from Graftbound before, and I'm very excited to check this new one out.  Glatisant is currently funding on Kickstarter, and you should go check it out as well:

Experience a lifelong quest through Arthurian myth as the heroic Knight Errant and the Questing Beast they pursue. The Knight must seek the Beast, and the Beast must make the Knight worthy of their legend.

What is Glatisant?

Glatisant is a GM-less, asymmetrical TTRPG for two players using the Carta system. Discover a world of high adventure as you cross a tableau of playing cards, encountering people and places from Arthurian myth with each card you turn over. The game can be played in 45 minutes or a few hours, depending on the depth of your journaling.

Glatisant Features:
  • Exploration-focused gameplay
  • A full deck of adventure, each card a scene
  • 40 pages with full-color illustrations throughout
  • Crunchy resource management mechanics
  • Simple, easy-to-learn rules
  • Thoughtful conversations on love and heroism
  • Solo mode for one-player adventures

StoryGuider flexible play styles

Jumping back over to StoryGuider, one of the game's core features is how it can be used for many different group sizes, from 1-1 play that may suit use at home to large group play, that would work for school, daycare, or library programs!  And the original release for this series has also been used in both settings/play styles already with success!

There's recommendations for both styles of use in the books' forwards, along with bonus activities that can be used to supplement each (like adding music or crafting) so you can create tales that fit your player or group and extend the play, if you want more.

Check out StoryGuider here, please help share the project so we can both fund and improve the series, and thank you for your support of this work!

Many thanks,
Steph Campbell

88% funded, review from The Kid's Table D&D, and free activity pages download
7 months ago – Fri, Sep 19, 2025 at 05:07:00 AM

88% funded, and closing in on the goal!

StoryGuider is at 88% funded and slowly but steadily making it's way to the goal line!

The crowd has also voted on what the 100% funded bonus would be, and you collectively chose the library donation!

This means that, when the project is fulfilled and International Games Month 2026 hits, I'll add an extra full set of StoryGuider (all 3 BIG BOOKS) to the annual TTRPGkids library donation.  Thank you for opting to share these stories with others, and, once funded, I'll have some new polls and goals like this for everyone to check out.

Review from The Kid's Table D&D

The Kid's Table D&D, an actual play D&D podcast including kids (and lots of fun shenanigans) in their gameplay had some kind words to share from when they checked out StoryGuider!

They highlighted how it helps with practicing developmental skills for kids and can be a great tool for learning.

Thank you to The Kid's Table, and please go check out their show if you're interested in seeing what it's like running a TTRPG with both kids and grown ups in the party.

Free activity examples

StoryGuider features hands-on activities and interaction with the material during the storytelling process, not just in making decisions for the character in the story.  There's activity sheets included as well!  These activities focus on a combination of social-emotional, problem-solving/logic, sensory, and motor skills practice while giving fun "wiggle breaks" throughout the adventures.

There's a free downloadable compilation of some of the activities included in the original StoryGuider release on my itchio page here.  Just please note that this free download is with the original art (when it was just me), so the final versions will have upgraded art (which is what this project is funding, and there's an example of one upgrade in the graphic below).

I hope this helps give a better idea of what's all in the StoryGuider tales, and, as always, your continued support with funding and sharing the project greatly helps this to become a reality.  Many thanks, and happy gaming!

Thank you,
Steph

ALA's Games & Gaming Round Table feature, StoryGuider library donation tier, and 77% funded!

The American Library Association's Games & Gaming Round Table feature

This week, I had the opportunity to write a post for The American Library Association's Games & Gaming Round Table (ALA GameRT) site highlighting books that feature characters who play TTRPGs (and why that's important)!  This is something I did last year as well, and, with StoryGuider being part of Printopia, which is focused on books and graphic novels vs. TTRPGs, I thought it would be a good fit!

StoryGuider library donation tier

Coupled with that, one of the options for backing the StoryGuider campaign is to donate copies of StoryGuider to a library for ALA GameRT's International Games Month event.

I've been doing this for my past few campaigns, and it's become a good opportunity to pay it forward to the community and for folks who don't have a direct connection to the project (i.e. don't have a 2-7 year old) but still want to support the artists or what TTRPGkids is doing.  It's a win-win, funding the project, and building up the indie book and game selections at libraries across the world.  (go to the library donation tier)

77% funded and still going climbing!

StoryGuider is currently 77% funded, and, while my nerves are present, I do believe it will reach 100%.  I'm posting it about and using what channels I have to keep the momentum going... and if you're able to do a quick share on socials, back a tier (even the $1 since it helps with visibility), or send to a friend, it GREATLY helps the project climb to that goal.

I look forward to celebrating with you all once the goal is reached, and thank you for your enthusiasm for the project thus far!

Thank you,
Steph

70% funded, featured by Young Dragon Slayers, and help choose the funding reward!
7 months ago – Sun, Sep 14, 2025 at 06:12:37 AM

I've got another update as we're hitting 70% funded!

While I am sure we're all eager to reach 100%, this is great progress and I'm glad to see it still consistently climbing at the day 5 mark.  I'm confident it will reach the base goal, and your continued support in both backing and sharing this with friends will go a long way for that.

I also wanted to highlight an awesome article by Young Dragon Slayers writer, Jaclyn (who also wrote the book Rolling With the Youth) about introducing D&D to their todder by playing StoryGuider!

It helps give an idea of what kind of skills kids develop through playing and how it works along with some additional tips for integrating mechanical elements (like a giant foam d20).

After reviewing well over a hundred games and books for the TTRPGkids website, this was REALLY cool to have someone talk about one of my games, so many thanks to Jaclyn and YDS for the kind words throughout this post!

Lastly, as we approach the funding goal, cast your vote for what we should do as our bonus funding reward!  Vote for a reward for backers or for libraries in the poll at the end of this message!

As always, thank you for following along, and I appreciate your support in this work!

Almost 40% funded! Your support in this first 48hrs can make a BIG difference!
7 months ago – Thu, Sep 11, 2025 at 05:56:14 AM

Hi all!

We're past the 24hr mark and are just at about 40% funded with $1.2k behind the project!

The first 48hrs makes a big difference in the success of this work, and early bird rewards are currently still active, so please make sure to check the project out today!

Our main goal is to fund remaining art for the books - everything raised for the project in that initial $3k target is going straight to the artists.  Your support right now (either in reservering your rewards or contributing to the $1 tier so you can decide later) helps us to both reach this project's goal and gain visibility for future success with the project in the next 3 weeks.

Thank you for your support thus far, and I'm looking forward to hopefully posting a funding completion celebration soon!

Thank you,
Steph Campbell
